Preschool 3

Religion - Unit 5 - God Made Me Special: I Can Learn  - Chapter 23 God gave us the ability to think. The children will enjoy learning something new. They will thank God for their ability to learn.

Social Studies - Social relationships: helping, sharing, and taking turns.

Language/Literacy - Sequencing letters in our name. Activities to promote alphabet awareness. Developing listening skills.  Letter Focus of the Week: Uu.

Math - Sorting by color. Matching color patterns. Identifying shapes. Focus on Color of Month: Purple.

Preschool 4

Religion - Unit 5 - God Made : God Made Living Things - God Made Trees. God’s gift of trees serves us in many ways. The children will know that God made trees. They will appreciate the many uses of trees.

Seeds Lesson Theme: Jesus is forgiving. The children will recognize helpful ways to handle conflict. They will recognize that Jesus invites us to say I’m sorry and start over. They will learn a simple prayer to Jesus. The children will practice working out problems. They will practice cooperating in play.

Social Studies -  Scholastic - My Big World: Hop, Hop, Hoorary. Science Focus: characteristics of animals • Vocabulary: explore new words through visuals • Vocabulary Theme Words: flop, nibble, snuggle, wiggle, warren • Math: measurement.

Science -  Fizzy Science. Last week’s Morning Prayer led by 4th grade, reminded us of the Joy that lives inside of each of us from the Holy Spirit living inside us. In us, God created “something new, a bubbling spring of Joy that splashes into other’s lives. My Joy bubbles up like the fizz of a soda, until it spills over and blesses all those around us.” This week’s science helps the children understand the importance of prayer, and how it helps build our strong relationship with God.

STEAM - Humpty Dumpty Challenge! Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall and took a great fall! What if he had some protection from the fall? What could keep Humpty from breaking? The children will design and build a protective enclosure for their egg that they will each test off our “Humpty Dumpty’s Wall” They will also be involved with making predictions about each other’s designs. We love connecting STEAM to literature! Preschoolers will be introduced to several versions of this children’s classic nursery rhyme, one told from Humpty’s point of view! The children will be involved in comparing/contrasting stories,using a Venn diagram to illustrate similarities and differences,  identifying/producing rhymes, and learn the history of nursery rhymes

OWL - Unit 5 - Week 2 Jungle Animals: “What are jungle animals like?” Phonological Awareness: Make It, Break It, produce letter sounds, blend and segment onset and rime, perceive different sounds. Alphabet Knowledge: What’s That Sound, letter naming. Print Awareness: engage in prereading and reading-related activities. Oral Language: expand concepts, use complete sentences, use language in a discussion, understand meaning of words. Writing: write letters. Concept words: elephant, frog, lion, monkey, parrot, zebra.  Amazing words: chase, complain, pattern, collect, mistake, splash. Letter Focus of the Week: Uu..

Math  - Patterns: recognize & create patterns, create sound patterns, extend patterns using color, recognize repeating patterns.

Preschool+Plus

World Travelers - “To infinity and beyond!” Preschoolers will have an out-of-this-world, month long study of Outer Space!  This intergalactic unit will introduce the children to concepts and features of space, including aspects of an astronauts job!  They will begin awareness of the Earth, Sun, and Planets, and learn facts that are unique to each. Preschoolers will be introduced to new vocabulary such as rotation, orbit, and axis. This week’s focus will be the Moon, stars and constellations, asteroids & meteors.
