Ray Scholarship

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ray, former parishioners of St. Joseph Parish, left money to St. Joseph Catholic School to be used as a donation for a yearly scholarship to a deserving student(s). Although Mr. and Mrs. Ray never had children of their own, they valued the high quality education that is offered to children at St. Joseph Catholic School.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray placed great emphasis on their Catholic faith, knowing the importance of attending Mass each Sunday together. Not only did they attend Mass each Sunday, but they lived Christ’s message through their outreach of service to others, and they placed a great importance in seeing today’s children serving others throughout their own lives.

The family established a set of standards that the school had to follow while designing the Mr. and Mrs. Russell V. Ray and Mary Rose Noel Ray Scholarship. The Ray family requested that the scholarship be awarded to a student(s) in grades fifth through seventh based on the following criteria:

  1.      Student shows a strong commitment to their Catholic faith through active participation and involvement in their school, church, and community
  2.      Student must be in good academic standing and remain in good academic standing throughout the remaining years of their education
  3.      Family could benefit from some financial assistance

St. Joseph Catholic School is grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Ray for establishing a scholarship that will offset a student’s tuition based on their active participation in their church, school and community. The completed application is due to the school office on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 2:00pm, and the award recipient will be announced by Monday, June 3, 2024.
