Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!

I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!

This is my sixth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking

forward to helping your child grow, and learn,

and have fun this year.

I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,

and am passionate about helping young children learn.

I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and

help facilitate their many different learning styles

in a kind and nurturing setting.

We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new

discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.

Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom

after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!

Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster

growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.

We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

Easter get-together with our Prayer Buddies
Such an awesome process art project to share with our Buddies! We used tape to create abstract shapes on our eggs. Chalked dipped in water was colored onto each section. The wet chalk produced a darker, more vivid color ! So beautiful
After coloring, our Buddies helped us peel the tape away to reveal our beautiful Easter egg creations❤️
Developmental Skills with Mrs. Goldberg! We were introduced to Mat Man, who’s wooden pieces can make any uppercase letter! Mat Man is made up of short curved & straight pieces, and long curved & straight pieces! Building letters helps us understand and remember how to form them while we are writing!
Music with Mr. Showstead has us combining music with movement, singing, developing a sense of rhythm, and learning about different instruments! Today we discovered the strings inside the piano are of varying lengths and widths in order to produce different notes!
During Open Playtime, preschoolers develop friendships, work on social skills, use language to communicate with their friends, work out differences, and put together a 48-piece puzzle! Love this teamwork ❤️
Chickens Aren’t the Only Ones”, by Ruth Heller was an awesome intro to our Science lesson on egg-laying animals! Our Religion lesson today taught us that eggs are a symbol at Easter time to represent new life! We learned the amazing word for egg-laying is oviporous! Preschoolers categorized animals by egg-laying or not egg-laying 🐣
Such a fun lesson to learn new vocabulary like lemur, prairie dog, and oviporous! We counted and compared each group and had 5 animals that were NOT egg laying, and 8 animals that were egg laying!
Happy 5th birthday, Bradley!  Mr. & Mrs. Rounds came to help us celebrate and read, “Ninja Bunny”! Preschoolers loved the Ninja Bunny moves!
Father Trout stopped by preschool today to show us how to make crosses out of palms. So beautiful and special.
