Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!

I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!

This is my sixth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking

forward to helping your child grow, and learn,

and have fun this year.

I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,

and am passionate about helping young children learn.

I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and

help facilitate their many different learning styles

in a kind and nurturing setting.

We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new

discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.

Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom

after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!

Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster

growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.

We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

Prayer Buddy visit! Wonderful seeing our Buddies today and sharing all of our amazing blessings as we played the Gratitude Game! What a great way to get to know each other better! We wish our Buddies a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving Story Bracelets
Preschoolers enjoyed listening to their Buddies read our special Thanksgiving poem, which has us using colored beads to represent characters and events in the story! Look for our special story in your child’s backpack!
Using a graphic organizer to chart our ideas! Such a fun week with The Little Red Hen this week! Preschoolers were involved in comparing and contrasting two separate texts of this favorite fairy tale! Activities such as these help build comprehension, language, and critical thinking skills! Everyone participated in adding at least one difference or similarity! We look forward to reading The Little Red Fort tomorrow, a new version with a spunky twist!
Truly a classic! Imogene’s Antlers was the perfect read for the Letter Ii today! We loved this imaginative tale❤️
Ii is for ice pack, Iron Man, ice cream, ice tray, insect, ice cream cone, icing, image, and Ice Princess! Quite a amazing selection of Letter I items today! We also added these I words to our Word Wall list: inchworm, and inch, igloo, and iguana!
”Ii” is for Ice Cream! Our literacy circle activities include lots of games to build letter identification skills and letter sounds!
Our Math curriculum this week has preschoolers learning about flat/fat shapes! Building shapes gives us awareness of how many sides and corners a shape has! We look forward to applying this knowledge during our STEM lesson!
Monday’s Spot It Dot It gives our preschoolers experience with listening and following directions, sequencing steps, letter awareness practice, and letter discrimination! Great job!
We love this home/school connection to help build letter awareness in our preschoolers! This also builds oral language skills as the children take turns to talk about their alphabetic item! I is for Iron Patriot, ice cream sandwich, Iowa, ice, Ice Monster, ice pack, insect, and ink! Amazing job, preschoolers!
I is for Igloo! Small group time with Mrs. Truskowski helps us develop listening skills and following directions! Little hands need little tools, such as glue brushes and small paper squares, to help develop fine motor control!
