Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!

I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!

This is my ninth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking

forward to helping your child grow, and learn,

and have fun this year.

I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,

and am passionate about helping young children learn.

I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and

help facilitate their many different learning styles

in a kind and nurturing setting.

We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new

discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.

Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom

after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!

Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster

growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.

We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

Storytime STEAM: Mooseltoe 🌲 ⭐️
One of my faves so far this year! Moose is merry and thinks he has all the trimmings for the best Christmas ever! But he forgets one important thing! The tree! Ask us what he used to make his tree! Preschoolers got creative themselves by designing and creating their own Christmas tree! They selected materials ranging in size and color to strategically construct a triangular structure that could stand up independently! So fun!
Magic Reindeer Food! Preschoolers followed directions and sequencing steps to make their special Reindeer Food! They used oats an lots of colorful glitter
to make sure their house can be seen on Christmas Eve!
Sprinkle on your lawn at night.
The moon will help it sparkle bright!
As Santa’s reindeer fly and roam
This food will guide them to your home!
Gingerbread Playdo! It smelled amazing! We
love playdo for encouraging fine motor development, open ended play, creativity, and sensory exploration!

Super Scientists with Mrs Hironomus and Jack:  Walking Water💧
Preschoolers enjoyed watching what happened to our paper towels when they were placed in colored water! They observed the water climbing up the paper towel, and learned this is just how water “climbs” up a plants roots! We tested this experiment by using warm water, and substituting tissues for
paper towels, and discovered much different results! So fun!

Happy 4th Birthday, Kaylee! Thank you so much for sharing your Birthday Box and wishes with the Food Pantry! So sweet! 💝 🎂
Polar Express Day 🚂  We began our day with an intro of the story by Chris  Van Allsburg! Imagine taking a train to the North Pole! 🔔 🎄 🎅 🛷
Jingle Bell Necklaces 🔔 Preschoolers did an awesome job of threading Christmas colored beads onto their necklace! Threading is super for building fine motor skills and eye hand coordination! Just the skills our young learners will need next year to write and form letters! The smaller the bead, the more difficult the task! ❤️🤍💚
Hot Cocoa Playdo! We love play-do for the fine motor benefits, as well as the creativity, and FUN! The room smelled so good, too!
Puzzles boost your preschooler’s problem solving skills, spatial awareness, visual perception, self-esteem, and the list goes on! A super gift to add to your child’s Christmas list this year! This puzzle has been usually saved for the 4’s class because of the attention to detail, but this group totally rocked it today! 🚂
All aboard! Polar Express Day began with some intro of the story, and a bit of reading from the book! Preschoolers each received their own ticket to board the Polar Express and enter a day filled with fun!
The bell still rings for all who truly believe! Preschoolers did a super job of creating and extending bead patterns on their Jingle Bell necklaces! AB, AAB, AABB, ABC! We had them all represented! ♥️ 💚 🤍 Love the extra fine motor work, and eye hand coordination with threading these!
