Jingle Bell Maze STEAM!
Preschoolers team challenge was to create a maze using Duplo Blocks! We introduced the concept of mazes by using a 2-D paper model!
Transferring our a-maze-ing ideas to a 3-D model! Using paper and pencil to get through a maze is an altogether different concept as preschoolers now used materials to create their Jingle Bell Maze. Where a crayon first created their path  on paper, they now required sides, door,  and walls on their structures!  Preschoolers got into small groups to create their maze! They did an incredible job of collaborating and working together as a team!
STEAM Challenge:  Testing our mazes! Teams worked together to navigate their jingle bell through their maze. This process showed the children what worked and what didn’t. They made adjustments after their initial run to make their mazes even more       a-maze-ing!
Candy Cane Slime! Sensory and science exploration as we mix liquid ingredients to form a solid-like substance! Preschoolers loved the candy cane peppermint smell!

”The Birthday Queen”, by Audrey Wood. Preschoolers measured, added, and combined ingredients using their hands to create our Birthday Cake Cloud Dough! It smelled so yummy!
The children had fun identifying numbers and adding the corresponding numbers of candles to their birthday cake creations!🎂

”The Napping House”, by Audrey Wood. We love books that follow a pattern, such as “The Napping House”, to help children learn that if they can sequence characters/settings in a story,  they can use that to help them retell the story! We discussed the roles of the author and illustrator a lot this week as our books were written by Audrey Wood and illustrated by her husband, Don. The setting for this book is their actual home!
Illustration! Before we could retell our story, preschoolers needed to illustrate their page!
Preschoolers selected each character as they listened to a retelling of “ The Napping House”. They practiced sequencing events of the story so they could retell this piggyback story to others!
