Religion - God Made Me Active: “I Can Play”. The children will know that God wants them to be happy. They will enjoy playing.

Social Studies - Classroom community development. Sharing materials and respecting others. 

Media - Reading: The Nuts & Bolts of Success Book Fair!

Language/Literacy - Shared reading experiences to provide supportive conversations. Building listening skills during small/large group instruction. Letters in our name. Using words to communicate feelings/desires to friends.

Math - Sorting by single attribute. One to one correspondence. Focus on common shapes.

Music - Mr. Showstead: Boomwhackers!!!

PreK 4

Religion - God Made Me Unique. Children will realize that God creates each of us special. They will appreciate all our wonderful characteristics that make each of us different. Seeds Lesson

Science - Hot/Cold. “How does temperature affect snow?” Thermometer - use of weather tools for measuring hot/cold. Categorizing weather activities. Snow investigation: Preschoolers will use scientific tools to make observe and make conclusions about snowflakes. Experiment: snowman melt. 

STEAM - Snowball Shooters. The children will be involved in construction of a tool, using common household materials, that can propel pom-poms. Force & Motion: exploring concepts in  physics - gravity, energy, and principles of angle, trajectory, and velocity.

OWL - Review. Phonemic awareness: identifying beginning sounds, counting syllables. Alphabet knowledge: writing letters, identifying upper-lowercase letters. Comprehension: use of positional words  Graphic organizer: using a T-graph, bar graph, and pie chart to collect and organize data. Activities to help develop listening skills: 2-3 step directions, Listen & Do. .

Math - Number and operations: use concrete models for adding up to 5 objects. Compare numbers in sets. Use of measuring tools. Recognizing/naming numbers 1-10. Using a graph to answer a question: “What do you do on a snowy day?”

Preschool+Plus

Measuring UP and Weighing In! - Preschoolers will be introduced to a variety of measuring instruments we use to measure time, liquids, distance, size, and weight. Preschoolers will practice measuring using many non-standard measures around our classroom.They will learn how to read, record, and interpret their results and make comparisons. The children will make and put to use a device for measuring levels of snowfall! They will use non-standard units to measure each other, record and compare their results. The children will explore weight and begin to understand how a balanced scale works. They will interpret results and arrange objects from lightest to heaviest. Preschoolers will be involved in individual/group activities, class discussions, hand-on math exploration, gathering and analyzing data, science. 

How do you measure God’s love? Preschoolers will also understand that we can measure things, but cannot measure God’s love. Ephisians:...”grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
