    Preschool+Plus Book Club
”The Napping House”, by Audrey Wood. We love books that follow a pattern, such as “The Napping House”, to help children learn that if they can sequence characters/settings in a story,  they can use that to help them retell the story! We discussed the roles of the author and illustrator a lot this week as our books were written by Audrey Wood and illustrated by her husband, Don. The setting for this book is their actual home!
Illustration! Before we could retell our story, preschoolers needed to illustrate their page!
Preschoolers selected each character as they listened to a retelling of “ The Napping House”. They practiced sequencing events of the story so they could retell this piggyback story to others!
Candy Cane Play-do! Play-do is an amazing manipulative for helping to build the strength and control preschoolers need for fine motor activities such as writing! We loved the peppermint candy cane smell!
ABC Christmas Train! Today we practiced sequencing letters, and naming and matching uppercase/lowercase letters in this fun literacy circle!
Sharing our story, “The Legend of the Candy Cane” with Mr. Showstead today after Music!
We are busy practicing for our Christmas Program on next Friday! Look forward to seeing you all there!🎄
Our story yesterday, “The Legend of the Candy Cane” encouraged us to share this special story with others. Preschoolers will visit helpers throughout our school to deliver this “sweet” message
      “The Gingerbread Man”
Our literary unit of “The Gingerbread Man” story kicked off today with our first selection! We love this unit for comparing and contrasting different characters, settings, and events! These activities help build language skills, vocabulary, comprehension, and a love of reading! Preschoolers will be introduced to many favorites such as “The Gingerbread Girl”, “The Gingerbread Cowboy”, and “The Gingerbread Kid”!
