Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!

I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!

This is my ninth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking

forward to helping your child grow, and learn,

and have fun this year.

I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,

and am passionate about helping young children learn.

I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and

help facilitate their many different learning styles

in a kind and nurturing setting.

We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new

discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.

Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom

after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!

Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster

growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.

We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

“Witch letter can you make?” The children really enjoyed the dry-erase markers during center time, and did an awesome job of writing uppercase today! We focused on forming our uppercase letters correctly!
A class fave! This was a great addition to our pattern-based center toady! Physical movement helps learning stick!
Corduroy’s week with Kathleen and her family was a hit! Our Bear went to church with Kathleen and her family! Corduroy was introduced to all of cousins!
so fun! They enjoyed visiting Apple Holler apple orchard where our traveling Bear rode his first horse! This Bear gets around! Thank you so much for taking such good care of our Bear, Kathleen! 🐻💚🐻 Hope you had as much fun as he did!
Me Bags with Jack W! We loved learning all about Jack! Preschoolers discovered that Jack loves Paw Patrol, too! He shared Mrs. Beyer’s favorite, Sky, and Rocky with us! So fun seeing that he likes Woody, too! Just like Niko (wearing his Woody t-shirt)!  Love making connections with our new friends! Jack showed us his medal from baseball, and his flipping fish that he said is a fun bath toy! Preschoolers enjoyed listening to Jack’s special Color & Shape lift the flap book! Jack’s mail truck was a big hit, too! Thanks for sharing all about you, Jack!
E is for Egg! 🥚 Preschool 3’s Game Table this week features Scrambled Eggs!
The children take turns picking eggs from a skillet and discovering the hidden color/shape it side! We love, love games for teaching a huge variety of skills such as sharing, taking turns, and working with others on a group activity!
Letter C’s Cookie Monster project gains a new friend tomorrow with “E is for Elmo”! Preschoolers experienced with finger painting using different textures! Can’t wait to complete these!
Music with Mr. Showstead 🎶. Rhythm Sticks!
One of our faves for enhancing auditory skills, body awareness, and coordination! The smaller size makes them easy for our young learners to hold and manipulate! Preschoolers practiced various ways to tap their sticks, and keeping rhythm!
Choice Time Tables! Halloween Pokey Pin 🎃
Our fine motor stati9n introduced the children to this fun tool that promotes tripod grip, control, focus, and eye-hand coordination! These look awesome with the light shining through them on our classroom windows!
Oh, Mr. E, E, uppercase E
Where could you be?
Our fun game gave us practice with phonics and letter knowledge!
Fizzy Eyeball Science! Preschoolers observed reactions as they added colored vinegar to their baking soda-covered eyeballs! They discovered that two materials can come together to cause a reaction, and how to use science tools such as pipettes! Love their engagement and excitement over their discoveries!
I wonder what would happen if…. Some of our scientists placed the Fizzy Eyeball remnants into their vinegar and got a surprising reactions! Science rocks!
Preschool +Plus investigates Magnets this week! Tuesday we tested materials around the classroom to see if they were magnetic or not! Today, the children used a recording sheet to document results after testing items such as Play-do, a crayon, and a screw! They enjoyed seeing if their predictions were correct! 👍 👎 Ask us the results!
Magnetic Spider Challenge 🕷🕷🕷We wanted to test to see if magnets worked through paper! Preschoolers created their own spider web on a paper plate. Using a paper clip glued to a plastic spider, they tried to manipulate it around the web! We discovered that yes, a magnet does continue to attract metal even through paper!
Often times an activity introduced during Circle time makes its way to Choice Time! This week’s Letter Ee game was a fun choice for our preschoolers! 🦅 🥚 🐘 😊 🌎
