Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!

I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!

This is my ninth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking

forward to helping your child grow, and learn,

and have fun this year.

I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,

and am passionate about helping young children learn.

I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and

help facilitate their many different learning styles

in a kind and nurturing setting.

We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new

discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.

Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom

after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!

Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster

growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.

We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

Ant Relay! The children enjoyed learning that digging ant tunnels requires teamwork! They worked together to carry our the “dirt” and mound it outside the tunnel entrance! Just like real ants! They did an amazing job of understanding how this all required cooperation, coordination, and teamwork!
After checking our dinner plates early on, we discovered that Tuesday night’s rains had washed away most of our foods. (Or so we thought!) So, we refilled our trays up again and placed them back outside. We checked on them again before heading out to the playground and found most of the foods missing! The culprit: the sneaky chipmunk we saw scurrying around our trays! First time ever!
Sensory Table: Color Sorting
Our family manipulatives and houses, and fluffy poms made this a fun one to visit today! Color words were added for some print awareness!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Media with Mrs. Hoglund
Joe the Bear and Sam the Mouse, by Beatrice de Regniers, showed us how two can be friends even though they are both very different!
B is for Blue! Preschoolers enjoyed Bluey’s Challenge today that had us using those large motor skills to dodge, duck, jump, hop, and pop! 🎈
PreK 4 Religion: God Made My Family.
We learned that God gave us families to love and help each other. Families vary - some are small, some are large, some live close, some live far away. We met Jesus’s family, Mother Mary and Joseph. This wonderful read showed us that a family can be 2 or a family can be 10!
“Who are the people in your family?” Preschool enjoyed using their Family Quilt Squares to introduce members of their family! It was fun to discover that some family members share the same name as our own classmates! We loved meeting everyone’s pets, too! The children then worked in small groups to build their own family model! This gave us the practice we needed to construct our representation later on paper!
My Family Portrait!  Using paper figures to represent our families gave us extra practice describing the people in our family! We compared our pictograph with  others to discover how each family is unique!

What do you like to do with your family?

We enjoyed sharing all the things we do with our families!
Blaise -picnic in my backyard
Thomas - jet skiing in Michigan
Nixon - squirt gun battles
Tiffany - doing dance competitions
Harper - family vacations together
Makenzie - swim at the pool together
Paul - when my Grandma visits we have a picnic in my treehouse
Emerson - play football
Sam - play Yahtzee
Sonny - go to Florida together
Elizabeth - eating lunch at the farmhouse with Nannie and Grandpa
Giselle - go to the park together
Cody - go on Kai’s red and white boat
Kennedy - go to my Grandma’s house
Addie - hug each other
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Music with Mr. Showstead 🎶. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8!  We practiced keeping rhythm today to a beat of 8 counts!
Choice Time offers many options for our preschoolers to try new things and engage with new friends! Circle puzzle, Dominoes, and B is for Barn game! New experiences, new friends❤️
Combining all their materials made it a bit trickier than it looks! The children had to share, take turns, and look for their puzzle piece that matched 2 attributes! Both shape and color!
