Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!

I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!

This is my sixth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking

forward to helping your child grow, and learn,

and have fun this year.

I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,

and am passionate about helping young children learn.

I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and

help facilitate their many different learning styles

in a kind and nurturing setting.

We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new

discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.

Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom

after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!

Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster

growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.

We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

Our Music class helped us understand how music can induce emotions! We listened to music that evoked happiness, and music that can give us feelings of sadness. Preschoolers used expressions to show these emotions! Mr. Showstead guided the children on how to strum a guitar by using both their fingers and a guitar pick! They strummed along with both happy and sad tunes.
Our classroom read yesterday helped us understand that a family isn’t necessarily the ones who live in your home! In our classroom we take care of each other, help each other, and care for each other just like a famiky!
Our first day of centers was AWESOME! Using Buddy Bands, preschoolers got into small groups and rotated through 4 different stations! Was so awesome to see the interest, independence, and engagement during these learning activities! Love this bunch!
Cc is for Campfire! 🔥 Mrs. Truskowski helped the children build their own campfire today! They enjoyed experimenting with color mixing:
Red + Yellow = Orange as they rubbed one yellow hand and one red hand together! 🍊
Camp Patterns! 🛶 ⛺️ 🔥 Preschoolers chose 2 different stickers to create and extend their own AB pattern! Way to go!
Our Gummy Bear graphing last week gave us practice using this graphic organizer! Preschoolers did amazing as the6 rolled the jumbo die and c9kored their bar graph accordingly! They were surprised to see how their graphs varied! So fun comparing data!
Preschoolers “built” numbers today! They practiced number recognition and writing. They represented quantity with stones!
Our scientists are enjoying our rock exploration table! They are being introduced to some new rock terms, such as mica, quartz, granite, and obsidian!
Preschool+Plus World Travlers: USA 🇺🇸
We loved our visit to the the United States! Today’s story, Lady Liberty Takes a Holiday, took us on a trip to explore our amazing country and learn more about Lady Liberty! Fun read!
We toured our country from coast to coast, seeing iconic landmarks such as Niagara Falls, St. Louis Arch, Grand Canyon, and Golden Gate Bridge! They loved seeing the Statue of Liberty standing tall and proud in New York Harbor!
Our Thursday phonics lesson helps our young learners learn the relationship between sounds and letters! We give lots of practice to help build knowledge and awareness during letter weeks. Thursdays we gain experience forming the letters correctly, from the top to the bottom, and identying words that begin with our letter sound!
