Peek At Our Week March 12 – March 16, 2018

Religion Objectives:  

SeedsJesus is the Light of the World. The children will explore feeling of being afraid and recognize that God loves them. The children will celebrate both light and darkness. 

God Made Living Things: God Made Fish - The children will know that God made the sea creatures, enjoy a story of the large catch of fish and be grateful to God for fish. 

Literacy Objectives: 

OWL - Unit 5 – Week 3 - What is a desert? Concept words cactus, desert, dry, rock, sand and sun. Amazing words coyote, invite, quick, howl, tumble and mountain.  Sequencing movements to perform task. Participate in a discussion and recognize conversational rules. Respond appropriately. Demonstrate understanding of the meaning of words. Break it: onset and rime, letter sounds, rhyming words, concepts of print and what’s my word? Engage in pre-reading and reading related activities. Discuss emotions of the characters. Ask and answer questions about the book. Letter of the Week: Ss.  Looking for a pot of gold activity. 

Math Objectives: 

Create, extend and recognize patterns (AB, AA/BB, ABC) using colors. One more, one less. Ten frames. Sorting colors.  Phone number bingo. 

Science Objectives: 

Investigate and describe sources of heat. Describe Earth materials and properties. Observe, identify and describe clouds. 

Skittle Rainbow Melt experiment – watch the rainbow magic appear!  Skittles are made and coated with sugar, so once you add warm water to it the coloring and coat begin to dissolve very quickly. 

My Big World with Clifford: Up, Up and Away!  What makes kites go up, up and away?  

Lucky our Leprechaun will leave us a magic leprechaun rock to perform an experiment on too! 

Social Studies: 

Use and respond to words indicating direction. Use language to identify and compare feelings.  

Afternoon Enrichment: 

Monday:  As we get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, we will learn all about who Saint Patrick was and all that he did for the country of Ireland. We will then make our very own Saint Patrick craft to decorate our hallway. 

Tuesday: In-School Field Trip with Regan Krueger’s Aunt Lori! She is the Primary Giraffe Keeper at the Racine Zoo.  She is going to come in and teach us all about giraffes and zebras!

Wednesday: Afternoon Gym and Media CAPE with Mrs. Beyer’s class. 

Thursday: The children will finish their Dr. Seuss author study with Daisy Head Maisy. Music Class with Mrs. Beyer’s class.

Friday:  STEM challenge – St. Patrick’s Day fun with Lucky Charms Catapults and our pot of gold targets.  How far can you launch your marshmallow treats?  Mindfulness class with Miss Angie!
