Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 15 years. I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

We readA Color Of His Own by Leo Leonni. This was a cute story about a little chameleon who wanted a color all of his own. Our little chameleon was happy at the end of the story when he met a friend and they could change colors together.  The boys and girls used watercolors to created their own beautiful chameleons.
Mrs Malham came in to our classroom to read Nico’s Birthday book.  Happy Birthday Nico!
The boys and girls added dirt and grass seed to a cup with their picture on it. The boys and girls will water their plants everyday and hopefully they will see grass growing sooner than later.
After Media the boys and girls observed that the carnations in the red water were beginning to turn red and the flowers in the green water were beginning to turn green.  We can’t wait to observe what what they will look like tomorrow morning.
The boys and girls put white carnations into the jar with colored water.  We waited to see what would happen.
The boys and girls did a science experiment this morning to show them how important the stem is to a plant.  We added food coloring and water to a jar.
The boys and girls cut out some carrots, glued, the, on their paper.  Added the tops to the carrot plants.  They painted the dirt over the carrots.
We learned about how plants grow.  They boys and girls worked together to piece the growing cycle of a plant.  We read The Carrot Seed about a little boy boy who plants a little carrot seed.  Everyone tells him it won’t grow, but he takes good care of it and he grows a huge carrot.
The boys and girls did a beginning sound Write the room.  There were 16 cards around the room.  The boys and girls had to find the card identify the picture on the card and write the beginning letter sound on their paper.
