Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 15 years. I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

We started our Jan Thomas author exploration by reading The Rhyming Dust Bunnies.  We played a game where we sounded out a word and located its rhyming word. Chase and Maggie rhyme!
We were so excited to see the results of
our gummy bear experiment. They all grew in size and had some changes in color. Water and vinegar made the bears grow the most. We took them out of the solutions and decided to continue the experiment. We want to see what happens when the gummy bears stay exposed to the air overnight. Stay tuned!
Teddy bear puzzles at the red table exercised our fine motor skills to cut out the puzzle and discerning skills to put
it all back together.
At the green table the children explored weight and numbers. They chose two bear cards and made predictions as to what number was bigger. Then they had to count the bears on each card and load the scale with the correct amount. It was so exciting to see that the larger number was heavier and weighed more.
At the yellow table we are making teddy bear patterns using colors and different kinds of bears.
During open choice time, the children played with their furry friends and had a pretend sleepover party!
We all got to see if our teddy bear or furry friend weighed more than Barnaby Bear!  Barnaby weighed more than Lilliana's bear!
