Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 15 years. I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

We learned about shadows today. You need a light source and something to block the light to create shadows. We also learned our shadow is always with us!
Tangrams were so engaging this morning. There was lots of team work to create the beautiful designs.
At the rug, we recognized different ways to make the numbers one though ten - finger counting, tally marks, domino dots, ten frames and it’s name.
We worked with the concepts of before and after at the blue table. We picked a number and counted out the correct amount of ladybugs using our fine motor skills and tweezers. Then we needed to do the same with the number that comes before and then after.
We loved journaling about Spring at the moon table. We have so many things we love about this season!
It was raining in our sensory table. We had clouds (cotton balls) and different sized cups with holes. It was actually very relaxing to watch the rain pour.
During centers today, we recognized color and religious words. We had to color
the matching flowers with the correct color. Our religious words could be colored any way we choose. After a year of singing color songs, it is fun and rewarding to realize we recognize their names in print.
Landon and Benjamin were so proud of their hard work with the peg boards. Great team work and collaboration!
Lilliana made a beautiful flower this morning at the yellow table. We love Spring and May flowers!
Mrs. Gillespie came to visit this morning to help us with our secret Mother’s Day surprise. We love all our school helpers!
