Peak At Our Week April 23 – April 27, 2018

Religion Objectives:  

Seeds – Jesus is the Good Shepard!  The children will recognize the people in their lives who care for them. The children will understand the image of Jesus as shepherd and understand a Shepard’s job. 

God Made Surprises – God Made Countries.  The children will know that God made and loves all people.  They will respect people from other countries and appreciate the variety among people. 

Science Objectives: 

Think green! Demonstrate the importance of caring for our environment and our planet. We will learn about the life cycle of beans and plant green beans. 

My Big World with Clifford – I See Seeds.  Clifford’s BIG word: sprout. Graphing different kinds of seeds. 

On Thursday, we will be having an in-school field trip with the Lake Country Forest Preserve – Butterflies!  We will be learning all about butterflies and their lifecycle.

Social Studies: 

Discuss recycling, sorting recycling, reusing things and going “green”.  Identify “green” habits. 

Literacy Objectives: 

OWL - Unit 6 – Week 4 – How can we take care of the Earth?  Concept words bottle, can, Earth, garbage, paper and recycle. Amazing words bin, harm, plastic, poster, separate and team.  Make it/break it phonemes, letter sounds, focus on letter sounds /Bb/, /Cc/, /Jj/,  /Ll/, /Nn/, /Pp/and /Tt/, initial consonant sounds, and letter names. Concepts of print. Participate in classroom music activities. Blend and segment words. Use complete sentences in a discussion. Shared reading and story comprehension. What’s my word?  Respond appropriately to text.  Answer questions about a story. Letter hop through the alphabet. Letter of the Week Ww. Spring CVC words – identifying the letter sounds and sweeping them together. 

Math Objectives: 

Sharing fairly, sharing fairly without leftovers, sharing fairly with leftovers and making 10 with our hands and feet.  Patterns around us. Identifying rhombuses. Identifying the numbers in our phone number. 

Afternoon Enrichment: 

Monday: Bonjour! Our France lesson continues with study of Vincent Van Gogh. The children will paint his Sunflowers masterpiece using realism technique. 

Tuesday: IXL Math and Storyline Online.

Wednesday: Afternoon Gym and Media CAPE with Mrs. Beyer’s class. 

Thursday: We will complete our Jan Thomas.  We will read Is Everyone Ready for Fun? and journal about who will jump on Chicken’s couch with us. Rhyming words games. Music class with Mr. Showstead and Mrs. Beyer’s class.

Friday: STEAM – The children will build and decorate a cardboard house.   Mindfulness class with Miss Angie!
