Social Studies - Thanksgiving Feast. The children will share in the celebration of our Thanksgiving Feast on Monday, November 21. We look forward to feasting on many foods that were served at the First Thanksgiving and celebrating the many blessings we have to be Thankful for, such as our homes, friends, and family. The children will participate in making Homemade Butter they can enjoy with their corn muffins and pumpkin bread!! YUM! We wish you and your family a very Blessed Thanksgiving! And look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday, November 28!

Religion - Seeds:
Science - Edible Science: Homemade Butter. The children will observe (and taste!) the science behind turning a liquid (heavy whipping cream) into a solid (homemade butter). Each will experience the physical force needed, as they measure the time it takes to create this yummy treat.
Social Studies - Thanksgiving Feast: Children will learn the important role that the Native Americans had at the First Thanksgiving. Working in groups, the children will create several foods that were served at the First Thanksgiving: pumpkin bread, corn muffins, popcorn.
Literacy - Literature study: “Over the River and Through the Woods”, by Lydia Maria Childs. Compare/contrast three illustrated versions of this beloved poem/song, written by school teacher Childs.
Math - The children’s hands-on cooking opportunities will develop these key content areas: Measurement, simple fractions, quantity, sequencing, and following directions.
