PreK 

Religion - God Made Me Good: I Can Share. The children will show a willingness to share with others. They will express an understanding that God the Father wants them to share. They will explain that sharing makes people happy.

Social Studies -  Me Bags: learning about our friends at school to help facilitate development of relationships. Building/supporting friendships in the classroom. Holidays: Halloween traditions, songs, 

Language/Literacy -  Recognizing our name in print. Connecting spoken words to words in print. Using language to communicate ideas. Halloween rhymes, songs, fingerplays to help introduce rhyming, patterning, and vocabulary.  Letter Focus of the Week: Ff. Home/School Connection: Bring an item that begins with “Ff” from home.

Math - Comparing size: big and small, short and tall. Counting Color Focus of the Month: Orange.

PreK 4

ReligionUnit 2: God Made Holy Things - God Made Water. Water is necessary for life, just as God is. The children will thank God the Father for the gift of water. They will understand that water is needed for life. The children will explain that water is used in the church.

Prayer Buddy Get-together: The children look forward to meeting with our fourth grade Prayer Buddies from Miss Parney’s class. They will enjoy creating a Halloween-themed item.

Social Studies - Friendships inside and outside our classroom community. Teaching tolerance, kindness, acceptance. “Strictly No Elephants” book, by Lisa Mantchev. Friendship Soup Preschoolers will coolaborate to list  all the special ingredients it takes to be a good friend! They will engage in a fun, hands-on activity to help reinforce those idea and special traits! Team Building Activities with Mrs. Feely’s Class: Building skills in communication, cooperation, listening, and self-esteem as preschoolers work and play in different groups.

Language/Literacy Unit 2 Week 2 Caring and Sharing. “How do family members care for one another?” Oral Language: Expand concepts, What’s My Word?. Phonological Awareness: onset and rime, blend syllables, segment compound words, rhyming. Alphabet Knowledge: letter naming. Concept Words: baby, care, child, grown-up, hug, tear. Amazing Words: gently, learn, lullaby, pediatrician, sob, whisper. Concepts of Print.. Letter Focus of the Week: Ff  Home/School Connection: Bring an item that begins with “Ff” from home.

Math - Numbers and Operations: use a model for subtracting 1-5/adding up to 5 objects, know objects can be counted, count with one count per item, demonstrate that last count is how many, sequencing numbers 1-10. Writing numbers 1-5. Data analysis: sort objects and describe similarities and differences between groups. Color Focus of the Month: Orange.

Preschool+Plus

STEM -  Haunted House Using a variety of materials, preschoolers will collaborate with their team mates to build a structure for their Spooky Ghost! Criteria are: the ghost must be able to fit inside the house, and the haunted house must be able to stand up!  Frightfully Fun! 

Book Club: “Room on the Broom”, by Julia Donaldson. This Halloween selection will involve the children in  story sequencing, story retelling using recurring phrases,  rhymes, and ordinal numbers. The children will learn new information during repeated readings.
