Reading: 

  • Take the iReady winter diagnostic test (scheduled for Monday, January 22)
  • Learn about the Berlin Wall and Communism from YouTube and BrainPop videos
  • Complete pre-reading Building Background Knowledge packet for A Night Divided
  • Learn the vocabulary words from Ch. 1-8 of the novel
  • Create a word journal for the vocabulary words from Ch. 1-8 of the novel
  • Read and discuss Ch. 1 of A Night Divided

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills  
  • Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet daily at the beginning of L.A.
  • Continue personal narrative draft, and begin typing the draft in Google Docs (if graphic organizer is completed)
  • Show comprehension of Week 17 spelling words (words with anti-, mid-, trans-)

Religion: 

  • Show understanding of the information in Unit 2 Session 7 with correct answers on the review guide and during the review game
  • Show understanding of the information in Unit 2 Session 7 with correct answers on the quiz (scheduled for Thursday, January 25)
  • *Miss Nelson will be teaching scripture during class on Friday and will be discussing the Mass readings for the weekend.

  • Watch Wonder movie and discuss similarities and differences between it and the book

Language Arts:

  • Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet daily at the beginning of L.A.
  • Continue writing personal narrative draft
  • Show comprehension of Week 15 spelling words (words with syllable patterns)

  • Tell what the disciples did after Jesus’s Ascension
  • Name and describe each of the seven sacraments
  • Describe how Jesus is present to us through the sacraments

  • Show understanding of the events of “The Fifth Grade Nature Retreat” – Appendix with correct answers to the comprehension questions
