Week at a Glance: May 20-24
Week of May 20 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)
Reading:
- Listen actively to verbal messages, observe nonverbal messages, ask relevant questions, and make pertinent comments
- Predict the effects of changes in ecosystems caused by living organisms, including humans, such as the overpopulation of grazers or the building of highways
- Recognize characteristics and structures of informational text
- Make connections to personal experiences, ideas in other texts, and society
- Respond using newly acquired vocabulary as appropriate
- Make, correct, or confirm predictions using text features, characteristics of genre, and structures
Language Arts:
- Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills
- Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet daily at the beginning of L.A.
- Read “Saving America’s Eagle” in Storyworks, and show understanding of the story with correct answers to the comprehension questions
- Learn about and show understanding of possessive pronouns
- Learn the Week 32 spelling words (final syllable -ant, -ent, -ance, -ence)
Religion:
- Recognize the importance of families in society
- Understand the need to support families
- Identify ways that families serve the community
- Recognize the interdependence of all people
- Understand how some current global concerns can be addressed
- Identify ways to be a good steward of creation
- Miss Nelson will be teaching scripture during class on Friday and will be discussing the Mass readings for the weekend.
