Week at a Glance: April 1-5

Week of April 1 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)

Reading: 

  • Continue learning about and correctly identifying the different types of figurative language used throughout A Night Divided
  • Show understanding of Ch. 29-32 with good class discussion
  • Show understanding of the vocabulary words from Ch. 25-32 of the novel with correct answers during the review game (quiz scheduled for Tuesday, April 9)

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills  
  • Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet daily at the beginning of L.A. (due Friday)
  • Learn about prepositions and prepositional phrases
  • Show understanding of prepositions and prepositional phrases with correct answers on the accompanying assignment
  • Show comprehension of Week 25 spelling words (words with vowel changes)

Religion: 

  • Tell the story of Jesus and the good criminal
  • Explain the importance of Holy Week
  • Tell the story of Thomas looking for proof of the Resurrection
  • Explain how we can recognize the risen Christ
  • Miss Nelson will be teaching scripture during class on Friday and will be discussing the Mass readings for the weekend.

Language Arts:

  • Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet (due Friday) daily at the beginning of L.A.
  • Listen actively to verbal messages, observe nonverbal messages, ask relevant questions, and make pertinent comments
  • Use appropriate fluency when reading grade-level text
  • Recognize characteristics and structures of informational text
  • Read text with purpose and understanding
  • Generate questions about text before, during, and after reading to deepen understanding and gain information
  • Make connections to personal experiences, ideas in other texts, and society
  • Show comprehension of Week 24 spelling words (words with schwa sounds)

Religion: 

  • Define basilica
  • Show understanding of Unit 3 Session 12 with correct answers on the review guide and quiz (scheduled for Thursday, March 21)

  • Create word journal for the vocabulary words from Ch. 25-32 of A Night Divided
