Week at a Glance: May 6-10

Week of May 6 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)

Reading: 

  • Show understanding of the last section of chapters in A Night Divided with correct answers to the comprehension questions
  • Make correct inferences for events that occurred in Ch. 38-47 of the novel
  • Make text-to-world connections by responding to a journal prompt related to an event that happened in Ch. 41-47 of the novel
  • Show understanding of how the main character (Gerta) changed throughout A Night Divided
  • Choose two characters, settings, or events from A Night Divided, and identify the similarities and differences of the two
  • Choose from a list of three final projects for the novel, and begin working on chosen project
  • Show understanding of the events of A Night Divided by creating an accurate final project

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills  
  • Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet daily at the beginning of L.A.
  • Continue working on draft of persuasive / opinion paper
  • Learn the Week 30 spelling words (Greek word parts)

Religion: 

  • Learn about Mary as the perfect model for motherhood
  • See and honor the beauty of all human life
  • Show understanding of the concepts taught in Lessons 5 and 6 of Family Life with correct answers on the Unit 3 review
  • Show understanding of concepts taught in Religion class this year with correct answers on the Archdiocese of Chicago assessment (scheduled for Wednesday, May 8)  *NOTE: This assessment will not be entered into PowerSchool as a Religion grade; it is solely a measure of what the students have learned throughout the year.
  • Miss Nelson will be teaching scripture during class on Friday and will be discussing the Mass readings for the weekend.
  •
