Dear Parents:
 
Thank you so much for a wonderful year!  I thoroughly enjoyed teaching your child and wish you all a great summer.
 
To my students: This was a great year!  I wish you a summer filled with fun, friends, and great memories.  I hope I cross your mind whenever you see palm trees or Snoopy and Woodstock.  I'll miss you but hope you stop by and visit me next year. :)

Tuesday, June 3

Today was Field Day.  Everyone had a blast playing games and participating in different activities.  It was a great way to end what has been a wonderful year. :)
 
Reminder:
  • The last day of school is tomorrow!
    • 8:30 a.m.: Mass
    • 10:00 a.m.: Dismissal

Monday, June 2

  • L.A.: None
  • Reading: None
  • Religion: None
Reminders:
  • Field Day is tomorrow.
    • Fifth grade should wear red.
    • Please apply sunscreen to your child, and send him/her to school with a filled water bottle.
    • A hot dog lunch will be provided.  If your child doesn't like hot dogs, please send him/her to school with a lunch on that day.
  • The last day of school is Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. dismissal

  • Students will be cleaning out their lockers on Monday.  Please send your child with an extra bag for his/her belongings (if needed).

  • Show understanding of Ch. 11-13 with correct answers to the comprehension questions
  • Correctly identify vocabulary words in the assigned chapters

Language Arts:  

  • Watch the Storyworks video Chasing the Wind
  • Read “Chasing the Wind” in Storyworks, and answer the corresponding comprehension questions
  • Learn nonfiction vocabulary words from “Chasing the Wind” by playing “Nonfiction: Know the Words” on storyworks.com
  • Learn the Week 33 spelling words

Religion: 

  • Show understanding of Unit 4 Session 17 with correct answers on the quiz (scheduled for Wednesday, May 28)
  • Tell the story of Thomas looking for proof of the Resurrection
  • Explain how we can recognize the risen Christ
  • Tell the story of Philip’s proclamation of the message of Jesus
  • Explain how the Holy Spirit leads us to fulfill Jesus’s mission
  • Show understanding of the content from the Easter and Pentecost sections of the textbook with correct answers on the open-book quiz (scheduled for Friday, May 30)
  • Complete a daily Gratitude Journal (worth two points per day)

Friday, May 23

  • L.A.: Capitalization packet due Wednesday (*Students had class time on Thursday to work on this.)
  • Reading: Tuck Everlasting Ch. 8-10 questions due Tuesday (*Students had 20 minutes of class time to work on these.)
