Pre-K 3
Religion - Unit 2 God Made Me Good: I Can Care. The children will learn that God takes care of the things in the world and wants us to take care of them too. They will talk about how to care for living things, toys, clothes, and themselves and thank God for the their many blessings.
Language/Literacy - Building phonological awareness: rhymes. Book reading: repeated readings to help build familiarity. Recognizing letters in our name. Focus on Letter of the Week: Ee.
Science - Elephant Toothpaste Experiment - Children will be involved in making observations and asking questions as we measure, mix, and prepare our experiment. Following safety guidelines, directions. Ask us what reactions were witnessed after the addition of our colorful catalysts!
Social Studies - Me Bags: Learning about our friends at school in order to help facilitate development of relationships with peers. Verbalizing/understanding feelings.
Math - Naming basic colors/shapes.

Religion - Unit 2 God Made Holy Things: God Made Bibles. The children will know that the Bible is God’s book. They will learn how to treat the Bible with respect and love. The children will enjoy a story from the Bible and gain a desire to speak to God. Seeds Lesson Theme: We gather in Jesus’ name. The children will realize they belong to a church community. They will explore how they gather in Jesus’ name. The children will give thanks to God.
Language/Literacy - Unit 2 Week 1: Meet My Family. “Who is in our families?” Alphabet Knowledge: differentiate uppercase and lowercase letters, recognize and name letters Phonological Awareness: syllables in words, Oral Language: use language in discussion, use complete sentences of four or more words, label and categorize words, understand meaning of words.Motivation to Read: engage in pre-reading and reading-related activities. Science - Fizzy Eyeball Science: Exploring chemical reactions - combining an acid (vinegar) with a base (baking soda) results in creating an entirely new substance, carbon dioxide! Our young scientists will be involved in following directions, using scientific tools, making predictions, and using language to express observations. OWL: describe characteristics of people as they grow, understand that others have specific and different characteristics, practice good habits or personal health.
Social Studies - In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue! Children will be involved in celebrating this historic journey as they learn about Christopher Columbus through non-fiction text, song, and story.
Math - Number & Operations - Count up to 10 items, understand that order of counting does not change the number, use concrete models and make word problems for adding up to 5 objects. Focus on Shape of the Month: Square.
Preschool+Plus
STEAM - Christopher Columbus Boat Building Challenge: “How many passengers (pennies) can your boat hold?” Science: Investigate how objects float (buoyancy). Engineer: solve problems, distributing weight of the pennies. Math: count with understanding and recognize “how many”, demonstrate understanding or more, less, same.
Math - Pumpkin Reporting. Children will use a combination of drawing, language/vocabulary, and data to journal about their pumpkin. They will observe a pumpkin using their senses and learn to make a drawing from observation. Preschoolers will be involved in using non-standard units to measure, using attributes to sort/compare, practicing concept of shortest to tallest, learn to use a balance scale and interpret results.
