Peek At Our Week April 9 – April 13, 2018

Religion Objectives:  

God Made Surprises – God Made Big Things.  The children will be impressed with some big thins made by God.  They will realize that God is great and powerful.  The children will praise and thank God. 

Seeds – Jesus is Risen!  The children will learn the meaning of Alleluia.  The children will hear and tell the Good News of Jesus’ Resurrection.  The children will find signs of the new life of spring. 

Science Objectives: 

My Big World with Clifford – Animals is the Rain.  The children will learn where some animals go when it is raining outside.  We will explore the sounds of a big rainstorm and learn what to wear for different weather.  Shaving cream rain clouds. 

It’s Windy! It’s Rainy – changes in the sky. Describing what we see and experience with a rainstorm. 

Social Studies Objectives: 

Recognize that information is accessible through technology. Understand that all people need shelter and clothing. What is the weather? 

Literacy Objectives: 

OWL - Unit 6 – Week 2 – Weather Watch: What happens when the weather changes?  Concept words lightening, rain, storm, thunder, weather and wind. Amazing words dawn, snuggle, dash, stray, prepare and protect.  Make It: blend phonemes, rhyming words, letter naming, name that letter sound, and concepts of print. Break words into phonemes, blend syllables, delete beginning onset. Participate in a discussion.  Respond appropriately. Understand the meaning of words. Compare and contrast. Answer questions about a book. Retell a story. Use new speaking vocabulary in retelling. Identify appropriate writing conventions. Letter of the Week Uu. 

Math Objectives: 

Counting 8 and 9 in any order.  Making sets of 8 and 9. Making smaller sets from 8 and 9. Making and breaking 8 and 9. Recognizing shapes. Tally mark match to number.  Count and color raindrops.  First, next, then next ordering.  One more and one less. 

Afternoon Enrichment: 

Monday: Bonjour! We will be traveling to France during the month of April. This week we will learn about the flag and one of the most famous landmarks in the world, the Eiffel Tower. 

Tuesday: IXL Math and Storyline Online

Wednesday: Afternoon Gym and Media CAPE with Mrs. Beyer’s class. 

Thursday: Continuing our author exploration of Jan Thomas.  We will read Can you Make a Scary Face? and Is that Wise Pig?  We will have fun with identifying, sorting and producing rhyme activities.  We will also make our own scary lady bug!

Friday: Mindfulness class with Miss Angie!  We will be attending the St. Joseph Talent Show.
