Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 20 years and at St. Joseph Catholic School for the last 5 years.  I am excited to begin my 6th year at St. Joseph teaching preschool.  I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

Scruffy the Bear is so excited to spend the week with Cataleya O.  We all look forward to hearing about his adventures!
“Teamwork makes the dream work”.   The boys and girls all worked together to complete an alphabet puzzle in record time!
The boys and girls used legos to paint beautiful harvest corn.  They all did a great job cutting out the husks and writing their name before painting.  They also used chalky crayons to color some leaves.  When they were done they cut them out.
During Circle Time we worked on our Letter H word wall, read a story about helping our families, and played some word games.  The boys and girls were also pulled out during class for their hearing and vision screening.
Leo was our Special Person today.  Leo did a great job reading the names of all the boys and girls and helping us with calendar and weather.
The boys and girls made their own squirrels with leaves for their bushy tails.  Since it was too cold to go outside we went across the hall and played with Mrs. Beyer’s Class.
In Afternoon Enrichment we read Nuts To You by Lois Ehlert.  We also learned some fun facts about squirrels and played a squirrel number game.
During computer time the boys and girls all played Letter Bingo.  A great game to practice our uppercase letters.
Scruffy is staying at school until tomorrow when he will go home with another friend.  Mrs. Gillespie will keep him busy doing some work!
Mile a brought Scruffy back to school today.  Scruffy had a fun w
visit with Milena and her family.  Scruffy was there to celebrate 2 birthdays including her Nono who turned 91!   Scruffy also went with Milena to get her flu shot.
The boys and girls talked about festive meals we have at home with our families:  Birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas.  The boys and girls learned that at church there is a special meal called Holy Communion.
