Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!
I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!
This is my sixth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking
forward to helping your child grow, and learn,
and have fun this year.
I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,
and am passionate about helping young children learn.
I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and
help facilitate their many different learning styles
in a kind and nurturing setting.
We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new
discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.
Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom
after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!
Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster
growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.
We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

We adapted our favorite game, 4-Corners, to help preschoolers learn about parts of a flower! Winning a game of Flower 4-Corners!🌸 ❤️🌸
Dance Break! So fun!
Jack and the Giant Math Centers! We love integrating literature into other areas, such as Math! Our Beanstalk that now stands proudly in our room, measures 106 inches! In order to measure it, however, we used green tape on the floor to represent its height! Working in small groups preschoolers layer out and counted how many Jack feet and Giant feet tall our beanstalk is! Recording sheets gave us practice writing our numbers!
Shake the Magic Beans! Preschoolers enjoyed shaking out double-sided beans, red on one side and white in the other. They then graphed the results! The children were introduced to the concept of probability as they discovered most shakes had 2 or 3 red sides facing up! Of course they 2 had to prove me wrong by both shaking all 5 beans red side up!
Build Your Beanstalk 💚
Loved to watch this activity unfold! Preschoolers took turns rolling the die, and adding that number of cubes to their beanstalk! So fun watching then
m compare height of each other’s towers and understand that the taller the stalk, the higher the numbers rolled! Great concept building!
The cutest little flower in the garden! 🌻
What a fun way to use what we know about plants by building our own flower!
Preschoolers learned the process of paper mache to make their planets! They considered size, and topography (Mars has mountains, Venus has volcanoes!) as they created their planet models! Today, we painted our planets! Preschoolers studied photos of their planets to understand the many features of each! They then mixed colors, used different painting techniques, and tools to create various effects! Can’t wait to display these!

Beanstalk Engineers: “How tall can you build your beanstalk?”
The Giant brought us cups today! Love how our preschoolers used different techniques to make their set of 10 cups the tallest!🌱💚🌱
Tuesday brought a BIG surprise!😲
A Giant visit! The Giant left us an enormous envelope that included a note, and a special puzzle! Preschoolers collaborated and worked together to assemble their new puzzle!
What a fun addition to our “Jack & the Beanstalk” week! Mark Teague’s story had us laughing out loud!🌱💚🌱
Giant Words! During our week of all things Jack, we are discovering many words that mean BIG! Today we added “immense” and “large”! Awesome vocab, preschoolers!
