November 16-20, 2020
Math: We will continue with Chapter 4 in our GoMath! textbooks. This chapter focuses on a variety of strategies students can use when adding 2- and 3-digit numbers. All of these strategies are helping the students solve the same kinds of math problems. These strategies are the tools the students can use to work through these problems. Some strategies they may find helpful and others they may decide not to use. It is all about what works best for each student. We will use place value to break apart 2-digit numbers as well as begin 2-digit addition using regrouping. We will learn the standard algorithm which is the "regular way" that many students' families remember and are most familiar with.
Science: We will continue with a new Mystery Science session to continue in our plant unit. This time we will think about what plants need and how habitats change with time. We will watch videos, make predictions in our science journals, discuss.
Language Arts: Next week, we will continue to identify and use nouns in sentences. Our mentor sentence will help us identify the difference between singular and plural nouns. During Writing, we will describe pictures and objects in more depth using “tell me more” prompts to tell stories.
Reading: We will continue with our focus on cause and effect in Texts (we will use short articles, books, and short videos to help) this week. We will cotninue to practice our inferencing skills with our Picture of the Day discussions.

We will also begin to learn about different landforms we find throughout the Earth. The vocabulary words we will focus on are : landform, continent, ocean, and globe.
Religion: Our session in religion this week will focus on how we worship God. We will describe sacraments as special signs that God is with us. We will define fruits of the spirit, Original Sin, and rite. Finally, we will explain the image of Jesus as the vine and ourselves as the branches.
