Week at a Glance: October 7-11
Week of October 7 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)
Reading:
- Show understanding of vocabulary words from Wonder
- Finish reading and discussing the next section of Wonder (“Around the Room”-“Names”)
- Show comprehension of the next section of the book with correct answers to comprehension questions
- Students will perform skits related to Wonder
- Students will be given a choice between two activities to complete for “Around the Room”-“Names”
- Continue character web for Auggie, which will be used to track the changes he undergoes throughout the book.
Language Arts:
- Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills
- Continue discussing narrative writing
- Learn about and discuss characterization in narrative writing
- Use a characterization sketch template
- Show comprehension of Week 6 spelling words
Social Studies:
- Show understanding of how to use an atlas
- Compare and contrast how early Native Americans lived in North America
- Learn and define new vocabulary words/phrases for Chapter 1 – The First Americans
