Religion Objectives: 

Special St. Patrick’s Day lesson with Father Trout.

SeedsLet is a time to…get ready for Easter. The children will recognize they make choices and recognize choices that Jesus made.  The children will become familiar with the season of Lent and recognize Lent is a time to choose to grow closer to God.  The children will practice making choices based on preferences.

God Made Living Things: God Made Fish - The children will know that God made the sea creatures, enjoy a story of the large catch of fish and be grateful to God for fish.

Special project with Mrs. Gillespie – Only One You. Mrs. Gillespie is going to share one of her favorite books she loved to read with her boys.  It is a lesson that shares the wisdom from mama and pap fish to their little son to guide him as he explores the world.  We will make our own fish and discuss how we can make the world a better place.

St. Patrick’s visit with our Prayer Buddies from Miss Spagna’s class. 

Literacy Objectives: 

Unit 4 – Review and Check – On Our Way to K! – Review concepts words from Unit 3 and 4.  What is a community? What happens on a farm? Read and retell stories from these units. Review amazing words from Unit 3 and 4. Name it/Say it with uppercase and lowercase letters, same and different sounds, beginning sounds, rhyming words, break it/make it with segmenting onset and rime.  Letter of the week: Ss.

Math Objectives: 

Ollie Says, addition stories to 5, location words, geometric shapes, addition and take-away stories.

Count and compare.  Number order.

Science Objectives:

Seeds and their needs,  Parts of a plant.

Skittle Rainbow Melt experiment – watch the rainbow magic appear!  Skittles are made and coated with sugar, so once you add warm water to it the coloring and coat begin to dissolve very quickly.

My Big World with Clifford: Up, Up and Away!  Whoosh!  What makes the dog’s ears go up? Science focus: weather and wind.  Vocabulary: critical thinking and movement. Vocabulary Theme Words: wind, moving air, breeze, soft and gentle.  Critical Thinking: using visuals.

Lucky our Leprechaun will leave us a magic leprechaun rock to perform an experiment on too!

Social Studies: 

Positional words with Lucky the Leprechaun. Use language to identify and compare feelings. 

Afternoon Enrichment: 

Monday: The children will continue their study of Ireland.

Tuesday: IXL Math and Little Writer.  Letter Ss alphabet book page.

Wednesday: Afternoon Gym with Mrs. Beyer’s class.  Math Manipulative Fun!

Thursday: The children will finish their Dr. Seuss author study with Daisy Head Maisy.  It is the timeless tale of Mayzie McGrew—a girl who suddenly sprouts a daisy from her head!

Friday:  STEM challenge – St. Patrick’s Day fun with Lucky Charms Catapults and our pot of gold targets.  How far can you launch your marshmallow treats?  Music class with Mr. Showstead.
