Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 15 years. I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

Learning the Sign of the Cross

We are learning how to do the Sign of the Cross properly. We learned that the Holy Spirit always hugs us when we do it correctly!

Photo information

Please make sure to look at our photo albums for more pictures or to download pictures from our activities!

Ask your child about this wonderful folk tale about apples.  They children were so mesmerized!
We had our very first round of centers!  At our sensory table, it was Chicka Chicka letter fun discovering letters hidden in the sand and recognizing the ones in our names with our friends.  We also worked on out fine motor skills with coloring our alphabet letters.  At the yellow table, after singing "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes" we made our very own puzzle using fine motor skills (coloring and cutting) and spatial recognition as the children had to reassemble the puzzle in the correct order.  At the rug, social skills, imagination and friendship blossomed as the children played with legos and animals.  With Ms. Nash, the children discovered that they make heat called friction when they rub their hands together.  We used our warm hands to form Sculpee clay into special backpack decorations to show our love and pride for St. Joseph School.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! The did fantastic work tracing all the letters of the alphabet. Our moring routine is running smoothly and the children are learning to write their letters while workign on their pencil grip and fine motor skills.
IXL was so exciting during Afternoon Enrichment!  We focused on learning the program and practicing math skills up to 3 by counting objects, dots, shapes and using stickers. The children enjoyed working in their own, working with their friends discussing the math problems and cheering on their successes. IXL gives immediate affirmation as the children earn prizes! The children also enjoyed being comfortable around the classroom which allowed them to stay vested in their tasks and their behavior was equally positive leading them to become successful learners! The consensus was IXL is fun!
Gym time fun today for our preschoolers!  They enjoyed having so much fun riding bikes, playing basketball and running around!
Ollie helped us work with two new word concepts - same and different. We learned today that sometimes we are the same as our friends and sometimes we are different!
We met Ollie our Word Bird. He taught us new words and their meanings. He caused many giggles with his silly voice!
The class went to Media with Mrs. Hoglund. They enjoyed learning about the media center and library.

We will then graph our findings and analyze the results.

Everyone in class came up with a way that they can show people that Jesus lives in their heart. Our children have big hearts and wonderful ideas!
Our afternoon friends are rocking in their school schools as we begin our author study with James Dean.
