The boys and girls wrapped Alejo like a mummy. We used toilet paper, but I. Ancient Egypt they used cloth. The mummies were buried with their favorite belongs.

The boys and girls watched a short video about ancient pyramids and how they were built. They learned that the kings or Pharaohs were buried deep in the pyramids.

Today we learned about the country of Egypt. We learned it is located in Africa, most of the country is desert, and the Nile River is very important to the country.

The Afternoon Enrichment Class delivered our Valentine’s to our Prayer Buddies In Mrs. Binkley’s Class.

The boys and girls made special valentines for their Prayer Buddies. They all did a great job cutting out the hearts and writing their names!

Miss Maria came to our classroom today for some fun singing and dancing songs. The children all looked forward to seeing her the beginning of every month.

We also practiced some Valentine’s Day sight words: love, kiss, hug, pink, red, and heart. They all did a great job listening and sounding out their words. We also read “Love Monster”

During Circle Time the boys and girls took turns pointing to the words in our Heart Poem as everyone read it.

Peek At Our Week February 10 - February 14, 2020

Religion: Special Lesson: Valentine's Day. The children will state that on Valentine's Day we show love. The children will express gratitude for God the Father's love. The children will show love for someone.

Seeds: Jesus wants us to Shine: The children will learn that we shine when we share our gifts and talents. The children will recognize that Jesus wants us to let our lights shine and will identify that being fair and sharing with others are ways to let our lights shine. The children will recognize ways they make a difference to people in their lives.

Social Studies:What is President's Day and why do we celebrate it?

We will also make Valentine's Day cards for our Prayer Buddies.

Science: The Penny Experiment: comparing old pennies to new pennies.

Which solution cleans pennies the best? The children will also use pipettes to see how many drops of water they can fit on a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. We will talk about surface tension and how the water molecules attract each other and pulling together so the water doesn't spill over.

Literacy: Name it, say it alphabet. Find rhyming words. Blend letter sounds into simple CVC words. Isolating ending sound in words.

Math: Ten frames. three and six part sequencing stories. Which one is similar, which one is different?

Afternoon Enrichment:

Monday: "Our World and Beyond": We will travel to Egypt. The children will learn where this country is located and we will learn a little about their culture.

We will read a book about the Great Pyramids and mummies. The children will use their engineering skills to build pyramids out of sugar cubes, blocks, and toothpick and marshmallows.

Tuesday: We will play a number recognition heart game. The children will also use a dot paint marker to see how fast they can identify a number when it is called out. Review 2D and 3D shapes. IXL math.

Wednesday: The children will write the room with the letters of the alphabet. We will also work on rhyming. Which words rhyme? Sorting rhyming words by word families.

The boys and girls made beautiful tissue paper hearts. We started with wax paper, then they brushed liquid starch on top, added a layer of tissue paper and finished with a layer of liquid starch. When they dry we will hang them on our windows.

The boys and girls had fun making fizzy hearts. I made a heart design out of glue. The children sprinkled baking soda on top and then used pippettes to put red colored vinegar on top. This caused a chemical reaction and the result was a fizzy heart!

This afternoon the children predicted what would happen to candy hearts when they were put in cold water, warm water, and hot water. The hearts in the cold water did not change and the water stayed clear. The hearts in the warm warm became smaller and the water cloudy. The biggest change was the hot water hearts. The hearts all completely melted.

The boys and girls were very busy this morning making a gift and card for some special people in the lives. They also played in the sensory table, threaded beads on number hearts, and played number Bingo. A very busy morning!
