We had Art In The Box today. Our featured author and illustrator was Mo Willems. We learned he was from Illinois too! We enjoyed listening to the Knuffle Bunny stories.
Nellie and Caroline made beautiful pokey pin rainbows during Morning Choice time.
After having a snack picnic at the rug, we got to work with our math application stations. Today was our second round of these engaging stations that the children really enjoy! There was Build A Shape, where the children identified, described shapes, created, and composed shapes, Make and Count had the children making patterns and Fill it up, an exercise that had the children count the numbers of objects in each shape and record the number counted.
Lots of fun running around in gym class as well as creative play with the hula hoops - Choo! Choo!
At the green table, we worked on discerning the size of the shamrocks and sorting them into the correct column - largest to smallest. At the red table, we discerned uppercase and lowercase letters by recording the correct case.
At the rug, the children played Domino Parking Lot. They had to put the parking places in correct numeral order from 0 to 12. Then they has to use their one-to-one correspondence to count the dots on the dominoes and number recognition to park it in the correct place. So fun!
The children loved listening to the beautiful story of Only One You by Linda Kranz. It is about a little fish who learns that there is only one you in this great big world and we can all make it a better place. They made beautiful unique fish too!
We used tangram manipulatives at the yellow table to copy, create, count and reproduce tangram patterns. Many skills are exercised here such as developing problem-solving and logical thinking skills, perceptual reasoning (nonverbal thinking skills), visual-spatial awareness and many mathematical concepts.
Thank you Mrs. Villegas, our Wednesday center helper. The children loved rainbow writing their names with you!
We had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Harris at SHP to learn more about how the bunk beds are made. What an amazing workshop! Thank you Mr. Harris for the tour!
We delivered our pillows to Sleep in Heavenly Peace with our Prayer Buddies. We collected fifty pillows making over 100 pillows collected by the Preschool and 4th Grade! Thank you so very much for your generosity!
After attending mass with our Prayer Buddies, we enjoyed an ice cream treat in honor of St. Joseph Day! Yum!
