Field Trip forms for Kenosha Public Museum on May 2nd went home with your child today. Please have the signed form and payment back by this Friday, April 19th. Thank you so much! Checks can be made out to St. Joseph Catholic School.

Please send in your free vote every 24hrs for me if you can...I'd greatly appreciate it. I am so humbled to have made it so far already. It started two months ago with tens of thousands of contestants and now I'm in the top 5. It's amazing.

Math - None (Today we worked on weights...mainly pounds and ounces. We converted pounds into ounces and compared weights to see what is greater than, less than or equal to. We focused on knowing that 1 pound = 16 ounces for our conversion. We added that 1 ton = 2000 pounds too. It will take time to truly comprehend this lesson, but we will get it before our Math test on May 8th.)

Science - None - Schiff Only (Today I took our Science time to go over our Wonders of the World project guidelines. I introduced the Wonders they can pick from and the rubric. A copy of all this is going home on Friday for all parents to see as well. By Friday, we will start teaching them how to use the Canva program and start creating their projects in-class. So fun and exciting!)

Social Studies - None (Today we continued to learn more about the California Gold Rush and answered questions that went with our reading. I also assigned a kid-friendly Gold Rush video for them to watch after they were done with the packet.)

Upcoming events:

~ Field Trip on May 2nd to Kenosha Public Museum to learn about Native American tribes that lived in Wisconsin and also dissecting Owl Pellets. It's mixture of Science and Social Studies. We also have another Field Trip on May 22nd to the Civil War Museum in Kenosha. This will be a great experience for the students to see artifacts and listen to real life soldier stories as we finish the unit on the Civil War at that time. More info to come for chaperoning by our Room Parent's. Field Trip forms to come home in April. So excited for these opportunities of enrichment.

~ After much research on my end, I have decided to end this year in Science with a bit of Biology. I surprised the students and told them that we will be dissecting a crayfish on May 24th and an earthworm on May 15th. I would say 99% of them were so excited about this. A couple were not thrilled with the idea. Please know that this will not be graded, nor would I make any student do something they do not want to do or feel comfortable doing. This is strictly for fun and is totally optional. If they choose to not participate, they can come to the Science lab with us and read a book in the hallway. I'm very excited about this opportunity for the students.
