Monday, March 11, 2024 Homework

We have been practicing for Stations of the Cross with the lead of Mr. Showstead as 5th grade is in charge of the production. We will be performing the Stations of the Cross this Thursday, March 14th at 12:30pm in Church. Please join us.

Please take a moment and take the 5 Essential Survey the Archdiocese is requesting. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

The 5Essentials Survey will be conducted February 12 through March 22, 2024 and will take about 10 minutes to complete. To take the survey please visit:

Math - None (I surprised the kids by allowing them to play math games today in class for fun since they had an intense math test last Friday. They played war with cards, fraction war with cards, add sum divide multiply board game, monopoly board game, and prodigy on chromebook. We will do double lessons tomorrow to be caught up.)

Science - None-Bubis Only (Today we started creating our study guides for our upcoming test on this Friday for Chapter 4. We were working on creating your study guide by writing all the vocabulary and definitions from pages 181 & 183 in spiral notebook and the main topics and bullet points from each of the 4 lessons in this chapter from page 185. We also did the review pages 186 & 187 in our text book to get us one step closer to being prepared for our Science test this Friday. My class will be doing this tomorrow.)

Social Studies - None (I am introducing the students to a few topics that we will start discussing. We worked on a Thomas Jefferson American Hero packet & The Great Compromise of 1787 packet. They will receive the Declaration of Independence books tomorrow as we start that unit next. )

Upcoming events:

~ Field Trip on May 2nd to Kenosha Public Museum to learn about Native American tribes that lived in Wisconsin and also dissecting Owl Pellets. We also have another Field Trip on May 22nd to the Civil War Museum in Kenosha. More info to come for chaperoning by our Room Parent's. Field Trip forms to come home in April. So excited for these opportunities of enrichment.

~ After much research on my end, I have decided to end this year in Science with a bit of Biology. I surprised the students and told them that we will be dissecting a crayfish and an earthworm in May sometime. I would say 99% of them were so excited about this. A couple were not thrilled with the idea. Please know that this will not be graded, nor would I make any student do something they do not want to do or feel comfortable doing. This is strictly for fun and is totally optional. If they choose to not participate, they can come to the Science lab with us and read a book in the hallway. I'm very excited about this opportunity for the students.
