Math :  Chapter 10 on Multiplying and Dividing Fractions (one lesson per day) 

  • Chapter 10, Lesson 1 - Hands On: Part of a Number (learning objective: Explore how to find part of a number)
  • Chapter 10, Lesson 2 - Estimate Products of Fractions (learning objective: Estimate products of fractions using compatible numbers and rounding)
  • Chapter 10, Lesson 3 - Hands On: Model Fraction Multiplication (learning objective: Explore multiplying whole numbers and fractions using models)
  • Chapter 10, Lesson 4 - Multiply Whole Numbers and Fractions (learning objective: We will learn how to multiply whole numbers and fractions)
  • Check My progress from Lesson 1 - Lesson 4 in book on Friday

Science: Chapter 4 on Ecosystems (one lesson per week)

  • Chapter 4 on Ecosystems - creating a study guide on Monday with important vocabulary too
  • We will do some review guide pages in book as well
  • I will lecture notes and important information that will be on test on Thursday to the students to write down
  • On Friday the students will have their Chapter 4 test using open notes and open book

Social Studies: The Declaration of Independence

  • On Monday, we will be doing a packets on Thomas Jefferson-American hero and The Great Compromise
  • On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday- I will pass out their Declaration of Independence books and comprehension packets - we will be reading chapters 1 through 6 throughout this week and answering the questions that go along with these chapters
  • On Friday we will have a packet on Jefferson and the Louisiana Purchase as well as learning about the First Presidents

First President’s

  • Analyze the role of George Washington in creating the first cabinet and executive branch of the federal government
  • Compare and contrast the opinions of the Federalists and Democratic-Republican parties regarding issues such as the national bank
  • Summarize the events of John Adams’s election as second president and the events that led to the Alien and Sedition Acts

Jefferson and the Louisiana Purchase

  • Summarize the causes and effects of the Louisiana Purchase
  • Describe the role that Daniel Boone, Lewis & Clark, Zebulon Pike, and John C. Fremont played in the westward expansion of the United States
  • Explain the importance of the Lewis and Clark expedition

Learning Objectives of the Declaration of Independence:

  1. Analyze the philosophy of government expressed in the Declaration of Independence, with an emphasis on government as a means of securing individual rights 
  2. Analyze the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution and the success of each in implementing the ideals of the Declaration of Independence. 
  3. Evaluate the major debates that occurred during the development of the Constitution and their ultimate resolutions in such areas as shared power among institutions, divided state-federal power, slavery, the rights of individual states, and the status of American Indian nations under the commerce clause.  
  4. Enumerate the powers of government set forth in the Constitution and the fundamental liberties ensured by the Bill of Rights. 
  5. Describe the basic law-making process and how the Constitution provides numerous opportunities to monitor and influence government. 
  6. Understand the functions and responsibilities of the free press.
