2/12/24 to 2/16/24 Week at a Glance
Math : Finishing Chapter 8 on Fractions and Decimals and then entering Chapter 9 on Adding and Subtracting Fractions (one lesson per day)
- Lesson check for Chapter 8 on Monday plus 2 practice tests (learning objective: one in class and one for optional homework)
- Differentiated Chapter 8 Test on Tuesday, Feb. 13th
- Chapter 9, Lesson 1 - Round Fractions (learning objective: use number lines and benchmark fractions, such as 1/2, to round fractions)
- Chapter 9, Lesson 2 - Add Like Fractions (learning objective: add like fractions and solve word problems involving addition of like fractions)
- Chapter 9, Lesson 3- Subtract Like Fractions (learning objective: subtract like fractions and solve word problems involving the subtraction of like fractions)
Science: Finishing Chapter 3 on Growth & Survival and entering Chapter 4 on Ecosystems (one lesson per week)
- On Monday/Tuesday, the students will be working on a Valentine’s Day Science webquest with so many interesting facts being learned. They have to look up the specific webquests requested for each section and answer the questions.
- Chapter 3 Test will be on 2-14-24, but I will have students overly ready for it
- Entering Chapter 4 on Ecosystems on Thursday with Lesson 1
- How do plants get and use energy?
- How do living things interact with their environments?
- Key words.... cellular respiration, photosynthesis, and epidermis tissue
Social Studies: The Constitution
Geography - We will start learning the Capitals of each State daily with worksheets and games, so there are ready for their test by the end of trimester 2
- We will continue working on and researching our country's project on Tuesday.
- I will be passing out the books, "What is the Constitution?" along with comprehension packets that go with the books
Learning Objectives of The Constitution:
After this lesson, students will be able to:
- explain the origins of the Constitution
- describe the three branches of government and how they function
- apply understanding of the Constitution to the classroom
- On Friday, we will be learning about George Washington and his role during the events being learned
