Math - Practice Test - differentiated by group, Fluency Practice WS and Standardized Practice WS (We worked on the Practice Test in class today and also was given to them as homework. I gave them the answer key to check their answers and see what they did wrong, if anything. Test is tomorrow and by then they have practiced 4 times prior to taking it. They also received a couple extra worksheets for homework on fluency in multiplication facts and a standard practice of concepts they have learned in the past. Please keep practicing multiplication flashcards at home as we will be doing a lot of multiplication in the next few weeks.)

Science - None, but D.O.S. has been passed out and due on Friday (Today we worked on finishing an Isaac Newton Webquest after we did our first lab. They had to search the website provided to find the answers to all the questions in packet about Isaac Newton. The lab was based on Newton's First Law of Motion...what goes up, must come down. I had them place a penny on their elbow and in one swift motion bring your hand straight down to catch the penny before gravity makes it fall to the ground. We had lots of laughs with this one.)

Social Studies - pages 184 - 195 in textbook and questions if not finished in class, but D.O.G. has been passed out and due by Friday (Today we finished reading about life on Colonial Williamsburg and tried to look for what were the key parts of life for the Southern colonists back in the 1700's. Ask your child to give you some facts they learned in todays reading. We focused on social life which usually meant meeting at local taverns to get together. We also focused on government. The royal Governor of Virginia lived and worked in the Governor's Palace. He also entertained guests there. The building was designed to impress visitors and to remind them of the king's power. We also retouched on slavery again and the grim conditions they had to live in.  Reminder about 50 states test on November 17th...Students must spell the states correctly and make sure they are all capitalized too. If not, they will lose a 1/2 point on each one written incorrectly. They will have a word bank on the day of test, so they have to copy carefully and correctly.)
