Monday, May 22, 2023 Homework

Please join us at the 8:30am mass tomorrow - Tuesday, May 23, 2023 as Bishop Grob will be our special presider.

Math - Check My Progress WS for lessons 4 -7 so far (Today we did the first half of the 6th grade Math Assessment test from Mrs. Hojnacki. We focused on problems 1 -16. I read each questions and all answer options aloud. This kept everyone on pace and NO ONE rushed through it. That was my goal. Overall, they did great. We will do second half tomorrow the same way.)

Science - read pages 277 - 289 in textbook and answer all questions if not finished in class - The weekly D.O.S. (Daily Oral Science) has been passed out and is due by Friday. (What do all inner rocks have in common?...They all have a rocky surface.   Which planet is warmer, Mercury or Mars and why?... Mercury is warmer because it is closer to the sun.   Why does Earth have a shorter year than Mars?...Earth is closer to the sun, so its orbit is shorter.  What effect does gravity have on outer planets?...Gravity keeps them in motion around the sun.   What are the main gases that make up Jupiter's atmosphere?...They are hydrogen and helium.  What effect does Neptune's position in the solar system have on its temperature?...Neptune's temperature is very cold because it is so far from the sun that it receives less of the sun's heat on Earth.)

Social Studies: Packet on President and White House if not finished in class. The weekly D.O.G. (Daily Oral Geography) was passed out and is due by Friday.  (Today we learned what it takes to be a President of the United States...ask you child some factors that have to be met to become a President of our country. Also, we learned about the White House and took a virtual tour that I assigned in Google Classroom for them to watch. )

Optional weekly EXTRA CREDIT was passed out on Monday....they get to use these points in one of my subjects they choose. Have fun and try them together at home.

So excited about these programs and the enrichment the students will be receiving!

~ Dissection of Crayfish will be on Friday, May 26th. Googles must be worn to participate. Please make sure your child has goggles for the Lab. This is strictly for fun and is totally optional. If they choose to not participate, they can come to the Science lab with us and read a book. I'm very excited about this opportunity for the students.
