May 22, 2023 to May 26, 2023 Week at a Glance

Please join us at the 8:30am mass on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 as Bishop Grob will be our special presider.


Math : Chapter 12 - Geometry (one lesson per day) 

  • Math placement test from Mrs. Hojnacki (middle school math teacher) will be administered by me on Monday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 23rd - we will do 15 problems on each day and there is nothing to prepare or study for prior to the test. After the tests are finished, I will grade them and then give them to Mrs. Hojnacki.
  • Chapter 12, Lesson 8 - Finding Volume (use models to find volume of rectangular prisms)
  • Chapter 12, Lesson 9 -Volume of Prisms (Use volume formulas to find the volume of rectangular prisms)
  • Chapter 12 - Lesson 11 - Volume of Composite Figures (Find the volume of composite figures by relating volume to the operations of multiplication and addition)

Science: Chapter 6 on Earth and Space (two lessons this week)

  • Lesson 3 - We will be focusing on the main question; What are the inner planets?
    • How do objects move in space?
      • Students will identify the outer planets, inner planets, and Earth’s position in the solar system. Students will also communicate how technology has helped people explore space.
      • Key vocabulary learned in this lesson are; moon, orbit, and planet
  • Lesson 4 - We will be focusing on the main question; What are the outer planets?
    • How do objects move in space?
      • Students will identify the outer planets and will compare and contrast the characteristics of the outer planets and inner planets.
      • Key vocabulary learned in this lesson are; Neptune, outer planets, and Saturn
  • Lesson Check 3 & 4  quiz this week
  • We will start researching our in-class Science Fair topics as well on Monday and Thursday 
  • Crayfish Dissection is on Friday...students will need safety googles to participate
  • Weekly D.O.S. (Daily Oral Science) will be passed out on Monday as well - due on Friday

Social Studies: Learning about our Presidents

  • We have finished our textbook and now we will focus our energy on learning the balance of President’s we have not talked about throughout history that we have learned
    • Hoover, F.D. Roosevelt, Truman, T. Roosevelt, Presidential Pets, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter and Reagan all this week
      • We will complete reading comprehension packets on each of the above President’s this week
  • Weekly D.O.G. (Daily Oral Geography) will be passed out on Monday as well - due on Friday

Field Trip on Thursday, May 25, 2023 to Kenosha Public Museum. This will be a mixture of Social Studies and Science as we learn about an indigenous Native American tribe based in the Midwest and also learn about and dissect Owl Pellets. Looking forward to another adventure of learning and enrichment.
