Peek At Our Week February 18 - February 21, 2020

**NO SCHOOL MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH**
 
Religion:  God Made Living Things:  God Made Animals:  The children will express an understanding that God the Father made the animals and identify many animals that God made.  The children will praise and thank God for animals and show respect and care for animals.
Seeds:  I need rules:  The children will learn that Jesus' rule is to love  one another. The children will identify their loving and unloving behaviors.  The children will pray the  Our Father with gestures.
 
Science:  The children will learn why it is important to be heart healthy.  We will make a heart pump with a balloon and straws so the children can see how the blood is pumped throughout the body.  The children will know that exercise and healthy eating is important to being heart healthy.  
We will also see why it is important to wash our hands before eating and after going to the bathroom.  We will do an experiment and see how clean hands vs. dirty hands affect a piece of bread in a baggie.
 
LIteracy: We will continue to work on phonics.  The children will identify words that do not begin with the same sound.  The children will write the  upper and lowercase letters.  We will review letters A - P.
 
Math: The children  will continue to work on verbally identifying numbers.  Recognize without counting numbers  1 to 5.  Comparing more or fewer, telling how many in a set.  Rote counting up to 20.
 
Afternoon Enrichment
 
Monday:  NO SCHOOL
 
Tuesday:  We will explore number 17.  The children will count to 17 verbally, match 17 objects to the number, write the number and learn different ways to express the number.
Music with Mr. Showstead
 
Wednesday:  The children will practice their rhyming words through song and finger plays.  The children will sort rhyming words by word families and try to think of as many rhyming words as they can for each word family.
 
Thursday:  "Bushel of Books":  Can you Make a Scary Face by:  Jan Thomas.  The children will listen to the book, retell and sequence the story.  The children will make a scary bug book as well as their own scary bug.
 
Friday: STEM. We will read the Humpty Dumpty poem together.  We will read After The Fall by Dan Santat.  This is a cute book about what happens after Humpty Dumpty gets back up from his fall.  The children will then all be given an egg.  They will have to figure out the best way to wrap/cushion  their egg so when it falls from the wall it will not break.
