Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 15 years. I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

More word family fun reading this afternoon after enjoying Drop it, Rocket! by Tad Halls.  We love Rocket's word tree!
After sounding out words, we were inspired by the R is for Rocket Book to create works of beauty with our own letters. L is for Lisa!  More pictures can be found in our Afternoon Enrichment photo album.
This afternoon, we read Rocket Writes A Story by Tad Hills. Rocket learned to read with the help of his teacher, yellow bird. Rocket decides to go on an adventure to collect words for his word tree because he wants to write a story. Along the way he meets a new friend, Owl. Owl is shy at first but learns to be brave and leave her nest. The children were very interested in the word tree. We talked about how we all know our letter sounds and should not be shy to try and put the sounds together. The children were brave, sounded out the letters in each of the words above and read them!  We were all so excited!
After enjoying another Rocket Dog story, the children made their own ABC book that we will share with our morning friends!  We can all be authors and illustrators!
The Valentine's Party was so much fun!  Thank you to all the Parent Helpers who made it such a great time for all!  Look at the Valentine Party photo album for more pictures.
Afternoon Enrichment had a wonderful time going on a letter hunt!  Some letters were tricky to find!  We also enjoyed reading R is for Rocket by Tad Hills, our author of the week!  We watched a video interview with Mr. Hills and saw the real Rocket.  His friends Duck and Goose are also very funny!
We also got to share Valentine stories together!  It was so nice to spend time upstairs in their classroom!
