Centers! Centers! We sorted Trix and Fruit Loops by color using tweezers in the sensory table - what a fine motor challenge! At the blue table, we had a game where the children had to fill a mat with unifix cubes based on the number they rolled on a dice. This was an exercise in subitzing numbers on a dice, one-to-one correspondences, socialization and turn taking. At the art table, the children created their own Very Hungry Caterpillar using paint and balloons! So cool! The textures created were just like Eric Carle's pictures in his books. Weighing classroom objects was so engaging at the yellow table as the children used balance scales and teddy bears as the opposing weight. The children loved using dot paint to iSpy numbers that they rolled 1 - 6. This activity aids in number identification and hand-eye coordination. At the green table, the children matched capital letters to capital letters on their recording sheet. Preschool loves centers!
