Peek At Our Week October 15 – October 19, 2018

Religion Objectives:  

“God Made Music”.  Lesson continued. The children will know that song and music can praise God.  We will also enjoy singing songs and be proud of our musicality. 

Seeds Lesson – “Jesus teaches us to be happy”. The children will identify ways they can share and help.  The children will understand that keeping God’s commandments means helping others and sharing with them.  The children will experience sharing and respect as part of belonging. 

We will read Jesus Wants Me for His Sunbeam by: Hans Wilhelm.  Each child will brainstorm how they can be a sunbeam for Jesus. 

We will discuss the school theme for this school year: Leave Footprints of Kindness and Respect.  How can we leave footprints of kindness and respect? 

Literacy Objectives: 

Find the spooky missing letters. Name it/Say it letters of the alphabet. Animal Alphabet Jive. Identify beginning sounds of words and match to its letter. Combining onset and rime. Identify final sounds of words.  Fill in the missing alphabet letters. Five Little Pumpkins! 

Math Objectives: 

Spooky patterning.  Sizes – smallest and tallest. Sorting jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins. Counting pumpkin seeds and filling in ten frames. 

Science Objectives:   

Dancing ghost!  This is a science experiment of electron transference with negative and positive charged protons creating an attractive force. 

Social Studies Objectives:    

We will read If Kids Ran the World by Leo and Diane Dillon.  We will discuss the story and explore what the world would be like if the children ran it. 

Afternoon Enrichment:

Monday: We will begin learning about Germany.  Guten tag!

Tuesday: IXL on the iPads.  Each child is challenged at their own level and pace. Little Writer number practice.

Wednesday: Afternoon Gym and Mrs. Beyer’s class.  Number 5 journal page.

Thursday: No School - conferences. 

Friday:  No School.  Teacher In-service day.
