Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 20 years and at St. Joseph Catholic School for the last 5 years.  I am excited to begin my 6th year at St. Joseph teaching preschool.  I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

We also played “Pumpkin Pumpkin Ghost”....a Halloween version of duck duck goose.   It is always fun doing things with Mrs. Beyer’s Class!
The afternoon began with a fun Team Building activities with Mrs. Beyer’s Class. The weather was great so we were able to go outside.  We played a Halloween version of red rover red rover.  It was fun and got everyone movingly!
The sensory table was filled with colored rice, bats, spiders, eyeballs and skeleton hands for some spooky fun!   The children also took turns and hammered golf tees into our large pumpkin.
During Center a Time the boys and girls made a green witch, cut straws and threaded them on a pipe cleaner to make a pumpkin, and played a Roll and color pumpkin dice game.
During Circle Time we stirred our Witches Brew and the children had to pick an uppercase letter to match to the lowercase witches hat.
We had music with Mr. Showstead.   We spent time practicing our songs for the Christmas Sing which will be December 6th.  The boys and girls are doing a nice job remembering all words to the songs.....and there are a lot of songs!
We played a shape game.  The boys and girls had to listen and follow directions.   We played the game twice...everyone did a great job!
We began the afternoon counting to 100 while exercising.   I fun and quick way to get our bodies moving on a dreary afternoon.
Mrs. Burton came in to read “Happy Birthday Curios George” to the class except she read the book as “Happy Birthday Karlee”!
We talked about the ways in which pumpkins and apples are the same and different.   The boys and girls then broke into small groups and weighed, measured and examined the parts of a pumpkin and apple.
During Religion we did Our Pumpkin Carving Prayer.  The boys and girls made their pumpkins last week and followed along as I read the prayer and carved out our class pumpkin.
We had Gym with Mrs. Beyer’s Class in the Gym.   The boys and girls rode the trikes, played basketball, and played with the Hula Hoops.
