Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 20 years and at St. Joseph Catholic School for the last 5 years.  I am excited to begin my 6th year at St. Joseph teaching preschool.  I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

First thing on the morning some of the boys made vacuums and razors for shaving out of some toys in the room.
Fun in the sensory table with red and white shredded paper and valentine colored hearts.   The children did a great job sorting colors and sizes.  They also worked together to put together a number puzzle!
During Circle Time we talked about the color Red.   We also played a Valentine number recognition game.
Music with Mr. Showstead.  The children took turns playing the piano. They also did some movement activities to music.
Number 16.  We learned how to write it, tally it, and how to write it.  The children also completed their number 16 journal page.
Afternoon Enrichment started out working on some addition problems.   The children counted two sets of numbers to arrive at the total.
The boys and girls worked hard on their Religion activity.   They colored and cut to make a beautiful flower basket.
After attending Mass with our Prayer Buddies, we had our Religion lesson:  God Made Flowers.   God made all the beautiful flowers.  The children talked about what flowers need to grow, how flowers make us feel, and the different types of flowers.
