Week at a Glance: February 19 - February 23

Reminders for this week: 
- No School Monday, February 19
- Food pantry donation on Thursday. Fourth Grade students have been asked to donate pasta. 
 
Math: We are continuing Chapter 8: Fractions this week, focusing on lessons 2 - 6. These lessons cover prime and composite numbers, equivalent fractions, simplest form, and ordering and comparing fractions. 
Objectives: 
- Determine if a number is prime or composite
- Explore equivalent fractions
- Write a fraction in simplest form
- Compare and order fractions
 
Social Studies: The students will finish their Midwest Tour project presentation this week. Each group will present their research to the class using Google Slides. 
Objectives: 
- Apply map skills to locate geographical sites of the Midwest
- Categorize key elements of the economy, geography, transportation, history, and people of the Midwest over time. 
 
Religion:  We are beginning Unit 5 - Morality: Our Lived Faith this week. We will focus on Session
Objective: 
- Consider how Scripture and Traditions can deepen our understanding of the content.
 
LA/Reading: We are continuing our novel study this week with the story, Sadako and The Thousand Paper Cranes. We will read the rest of the story this week, work on vocabulary activities, and complete comprehension questions. The students will also complete the final project packet for this story. 
Objectives:
- Be familiar with Sadako’s story.
- Be introduced to children’s feelings under the effects of wars and disasters.
 
Spelling: Instead of a spelling test this week, the students will have a vocabulary test using the words from last week. The words for this test are vocabulary words from Sadako and The Thousand Paper Cranes. The students were given vocabulary words and definitions last week. The test will have the students match the definition to each word. 
Objectives:
- Demonstrate and apply phonetic knowledge.
- Demonstrate and apply spelling knowledge.
