Reading: Unit 4- Week 6 

This week students will review the following for the Unit test on Friday with review games, small groups etc: 

  • Reading and comprehension
  • Author's purpose
  • Point of view
  • Drama
  • r-controlled vowels
  • dividing of syllables
  • homographs
  • homophones
  • sentence corrections
  • contractions
  • prepositions

 

Writing:

*Work on Weekly writing prompts

 

Math:  

Chapter 11- Measuring Time: Mathematical Practices:

  • Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
  • Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
  • Model with mathematics.
  • Use appropriate tools strategically.
  • Attend to precision.
  • Look for and make use of structure.
  • Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
  • Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

Vocabulary words: analog and digital clock, time interval,

Monday- Lesson 4- Solve Mass Problems: Why do we measure? Students practice algebra skills with finding the mass of multiple objects. 

Tuesday- Lesson 5- Measuring Time

Wednesday- Lesson 6- Time intervals; Measurement and data; Students will determine time intervals to solve problems.

Thursday- Lesson 7- Problem Solving Investigation- Strategy: Work Backward; Students will work backward to solve problems. 

Thursday- Review all lessons for Assessment on Measurement next week

(We also work daily on Math iReady, Prodigy, SplashMath and IXL)

 

Religion: Session 20- Celebrating Lent and Holy Week

Session Theme:  Lent and Holy Week are times to think of how we treat others-

Outcomes:

  • Retell the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well.
  • Explain Lent is a time to think about how we treat others.
  • Describe practices and experiences of Lent and Holy Week.
  • Define almsgiving, intercessions, and Prayer of the Faithful.

 

Science

1. Finish Animal Project for Chapter 4.

 

Social Studies:

Social Studies Project- Immigration to America

  1. Students create a suitcase with a list of things that they would want to bring if they were immigrating.
  2. Ellis island facts and writing
  3. Reasons for people to immigrate to the United States
  4. These will all be stations for students to complete during the next 1-2 weeks to understand what it was like leaving for America.
