To help decrease the spread of illness, I have provided some guidelines to help with your decision on whether or not to send your child to school. I ask that you keep your child home if he/she:

  • Has a fever of 100 degrees or higher.
  • Has stomach cramps and/or is vomiting.
  • Has diarrhea (two or more episodes in 24 hrs.)
  • Has a sudden onset of a sore throat, with or without a fever. Strep Throat
  • Has a persistent cough (dry or productive) that prevents him/her from actively participating in the school day.
  • Has symptoms that prevent him or her from participating in school, such as:
    • Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite.
    • Headaches, body aches, earaches, etc.
    • Severe sore throat (rule out strep throat).
  • Has rash, and or draining open sores

A student can return to school following an illness when:

  • They have been feeling better for at least 24 hours.
  • They have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of any fever reducing medications.
  • They are free of vomiting and or diarrhea for at least 24 hours.
  • They have been on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours and symptoms have improved (strep, pink eye, etc.).
  • They have been evaluated and cleared by a doctor for a cough lasting more than 5 days. Please provide a note to the school nurse.

If a student is sick for 3 or more consecutive days, a doctor's note is encouraged to return to school.

Don't Forget....

  • Report your child's absence to Mrs. Lentino each day before 8:00 am.
  • Inform the school nurse or administration if your child has been diagnosed with an infectious condition such as strep throat, scarlet fever, pertussis, conjunctivitis, RSV, etc.
  • If medication is prescribed and needs to be administered during school hours, please have the doctor complete a medication authorization form. Medication cannot be given without this form. This includes all over the counter medications. Archdiocese Medication Authorization Form

Thank you for your cooperation to help keep our students and staff healthy.

Kindly,

Mrs. Wegener
