Reading/LA:  This week we continue our Novel Study on our historical fiction book, "Number the Stars," written by Lowis Lowry.   
Section 3 covers a variety of activities that help students organize the information from the story. (character and chapter note taking boxes, questions from each chapter.)
 
Objectives:
-Identify key events, characters, and themes in "Number the Stars" by Lois Lowry.
-Explain the significance of selected events and characters in the novel.
-Make inferences about characters' motivations and feelings based on textual evidence.
-Demonstrate comprehension of the text through discussion, written responses, and projects.
 
Homework for Reading/LA this week:
Monday: Copy vocabulary definitions into notebook. 
Tuesday: Write one sentence for each vocabulary word
Wednesday: Match definitions to vocabulary words sheet/Study
Thursday: Section 3 test and vocabulary quiz. 
Friday: No School
 
Math: Chapter 11 will continue this week with Customary Measurement. We will complete lessons 5-7, review and take a Check My Progress (L5-7) quiz on Thursday.

Please encourage your student to use the manipulatives that are handed out in class to aid in calculations of customary measurement. 
IXL is a fantastic tool that allows students to practice their newly learned skill, if a student practices a skill and receives a 100 score they can redeem for a sticker.  
 
Objectives:
-Identify and name common customary units of weight such as ounces, pounds, and tons.
-Understand the relationship between different customary units of weight (e.g., ounces to pounds, pounds to tons).
-Identify and name common units of time such as seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks.
 
Religion:   This week, our focus will remain on delving deeper into the teachings of the Ten Commandments. Specifically we will study Commandments 4, 5 and 6. Students will gather in groups and role play their given Commandment.
 
Objective:
Demonstrate an enhanced understanding of the principles and significance of the Ten Commandments through continued exploration and discussion.  
 
Spelling:  No spelling homework/words to study this week.  We will focus on vocabulary from our novel "Number the Stars."
 
Science:  We will wrap up lesson 6 - How do animals respond to their environment.  We will review with Kahoot and take a science test on Thursday.
