Peek At Our Week March 18 – March 22, 2019

Religion Objectives: 

Seeds – Jesus God’s Son. The children will realize they belong at Mass, recognize that Jesus is God’s Son and be able to describe prayer as talking to God.  The children will identify personal prayer times and places.

God Made Living Things – God Made Butterflies. The children will marvel at the special wonders of the earth and know that forms of life change. The children will praise and thank God. 

We will be delivering our pillows to Sleep in Heavenly Peace on Wednesday morning with our Prayer Buddies.

Why is there a cross? We will read the story by Kathleen Bostrom.

Science Objectives:

Rainbow shaving Cream Rain Clouds – we will learn about how rain is formed and what happens when water droplets evaporate and continue to collect in a cloud.

Social Studies: 

Name features of the environment around us and identify features of a jungle. Recognize the names for the days of the week.

Literacy Objectives: 

OWL - Unit 5 – Week 1 - What is a jungle? Concept words branch, color, hot, jungle, leaf and trunk. Amazing words explore, hunt, twig, giant, moist and graze.  Respond appropriately, produce and identify rhyme, name letters, recognize letter sounds, irregular plurals, demonstrate understanding of meanings of words, delete onsets, ask and answer questions about a book, What’s my word? Counting syllables. Recognizing rhyming words in the –ed, -at, -un and –ig families.

Math Objectives: 

Recognize repeating patterns, patterns in sound, and patterns in nature.  The concept of one less. Counting to 10 and ordering objects to 10. Sorting by size – small, medium and large. How many?

Afternoon Enrichment: 

Monday: We will finish our Ireland lessons learning about Celtic designs and dancing lessons from Jack’s sister Maggie!

Tuesday: IXL exploration and app of choice. 

Wednesday: Afternoon Gym with Mrs. Beyer’s class.  Continuing our Math Manipulative Fun – Make and Count, Build a Shape and Fill it up!

Thursday: Author study with Dr. Seuss with There is a Wocket in My Pocket.  We will explore rhyming and create our own wocket in our pocket.

Friday:  STEAM challenge –   Magnetic racing cars.   Music class with Mr. Showstead.
