We performed a chemistry experiment today with the coin that Abraham Lincoln is on - the copper penny!  We used vinegar which is an acid, mixed in some salt and this solution removes the copper oxide which was making our pennies dull. We let some pennies dry with the solution on them and they turned green like the Statue of Liberty!  The copper reacted to the salt in the solution and turned the green color.
